Kazakhstan seeks setting aside of US District Court’s decision to enforce USD 500 million SCC arbitral award

1 March 2023, WASHINGTON, DC. The Republic of Kazakhstan has filed – pursuant to Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 60(d)(1) and 60(d)(3) – an independent action before the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, where it is seeking relief from that court’s 23 March 2018 order confirming a USD 500 million Stockholm Chamber of Commerce arbitration Award against it. That order was made in favour of Anatolie Stati, Gabriel Stati, Ascom Group, S.A. (“Ascom”), and Terra Raf Trans Traiding Ltd. (“Terra Raf”) (collectively, the “Statis”).
