On 7 October 2021, the ICSID Secretary-General registered a request for arbitration filed by Petronas International Corporation Ltd and Azhan Bin Ali against the Republic of the Sudan (ICSID Case No. ARB/21/47). The request alleges that Sudan’s transitional government had unlawfully expropriated a Petronas subsidiary’s assets in Sudan.
